Been in production for about a decade now... just read HBO have sold teh rights to Apple TV... which is a worry... be very hard to top BofB and the Pacific....
One I am looking forward to is SAS Rogue Warriors.... the book was a fucking incredible read... so just hope the BBc do it and them justice...

The new "Midway" film released a couple of years ago is awesome as true story and on the big screen with modern day graphics its just phenomenal.
Full Metal Jacket and the Great Escape from times long ago are terrific.

During the Battle of Okinawa, he saved the lives of 50–100 wounded infantrymen atop the area known by the 96th Division as the Maeda Escarpment or Hacksaw Ridge.[12] Doss was wounded four times in Okinawa,[13] and was evacuated on May 21, 1945, aboard the USS Mercy.[14] Doss suffered a left arm fracture from a sniper's bullet while being carried back to Allied lines and at one point had seventeen pieces of shrapnel embedded in his body after a failed attempt at kicking a grenade away from him and his men.[14] He was awarded the Medal of Honor for his actions in Okinawa.[15]

Desmond Dodd (Hacksaw Ridge)... saved 75 men at the Battle of Okinawa... when Gibson made the film he thought that he would have to scale back the rescues as no one would believe it on the big screen,,, what a man... Doss that is ... not Gibson

Stellar cast, Lee Marvin, Jack Palance and Eddie Albert as the cowardly officer. Any film with Lee Marvin in, you know it's going to be good.
